WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FONDEST MEMORIES OF YOUR OWN MOTHER?
One of my favorite memories of my mom was her sitting at the table with a kitchen full, playing her guitar and singing. It is a sound that I will never forget and loved hearing when I was young.
WHAT FRIGHTENS / EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT BEING A MOTHER?
I am looking forward to watching my girls graduate from college/university and the get married and have kids of their own. The teen years that are coming very fast scare me the most because I know that will be the time in our lives that they will think I know nothing and do nothing right. It will come, and pass, hopefully fast.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOU FAVORITE STAGE?
As a mother I would have to say I love watching my children grow and go through each stage. Most people say they miss their children being small, but I am the opposite - I don’t miss it because I love watching them get older and become more responsible. I love how both my girls are totally opposite and growing differently. Both are fun and loving in different ways.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEW MOTHER?
My advice to a new mother would be don’t forget to take time away from mothering. Go away for at least one weekend a year with no kids, because when you do that for yourself you recharge. I find I feel like a better mother and person when I come home after a little getaway. Being a mother is the most rewarding feeling even though everyday isn’t sunshine and roses but the good always out ways the bad.
